Star Farms Field Trip

The purpose of this trip is for the Purple and Green Forums to spend some time together to get to know one another.  The two forums will be working on joint projects throughout the year and this is a fun way to begin.  For those of you who have not had the pleasure of spending a day at Star Farms here is a little bit of background:

·        Purple and Green Forums traditionally organize a Fall and Spring field trip to Star Farms as a way of getting acquainted with our new students (Fall) and saying farewell to our departing students (Spring).

·        Star Farms is ostensibly a hay ranch.  The owner of the ranch, Dean, has built a small oasis within the confines of the ranch.  He rents out the oasis to groups who wish to enjoy a day of sun, swimming and other fun activities.

·        The oasis consists of a large pond for swimming, diving, log rolling, kayaking (two available), and catch and release fishing.  There are palm trees with hammocks, a cabana for resting and eating, and a sandy beach for relaxing in the sun.  There is also a trampoline, volley ball net, croquet, and large scale BBQ facilities.

·        A sound system is also available for your listening pleasure.

·        Star Farms is about a one hour drive from the school (see directions enclosed).

·        The weather at Star Farms can be hot and quite windy.  Be prepared for hot or cool weather and windy or calm conditions.

What to bring in addition to the item on the supply list:

·        Kayaks and water recreation devices.  (Star Farms has two kayaks available for our use).

·        Beach chairs

·        Towels

·        Sun Screen

·        Hat

·        Music CDs

·        Whatever else you may need to make your day more enjoyable.
